Pharmasav update
March 2010
Pharmasav is pleased to announce that its financial statements for the year ending November 2009 will be lodged at Companies House in the near future. While Pharmasav made a small loss in the financial year, all research and development expenditure was written off, and sales volume continued to increase. The Shareholders are satisfied with progress to date, although they recognise it is somewhat behind the original development plan for the Company.
The present regulatory environment becomes ever more complicated, and the Company has made considerable efforts to satisfy regulations being imposed by the European authorities. The Company has presented extensive dossiers of information to provide evidence of efficacy and product safety. This has been both time-consuming and resource absorbing for the Company. The Authorities are reviewing submissions from numerous manufacturers and suppliers, and the timescale for approval is uncertain.
Following successfully attending and exhibiting at the 2009 Vitafood Exhibition which is held annually in Geneva, considerable interest was generated in our nutraceutical products. As a result, Pharmasav has appointed a European marketing partner to help develop our overseas markets. They have considerable experience in pharmaceutical distribution and already solicited expressions of interest from potential distributors. Samples have been sent for evaluation, and we hope to enter into agreements in the next 12 months to allow our products have considerably greater presence outside the United Kingdom.
Yvette Hastings Managing Director said “we look forward to the future with confidence. Our natural menopause product has been well received and gained enthusiastic use by satisfied customers, who have found it most helpful. The range of applications for our PollenAid product is growing, and small-scale consumer trials of one novel application is underway. We will be making further announcements in due course ”

Vitafoods in Geneva 2009.
May 2009
Pharmasav has a strategy of developing its international operations and once again was present at the Vitafoods International and Finished Products trade show in Geneva in the first week in May.
Yvette Hastings and Olivier Demongeot represented the Company, and considerable interest was generated during the show.
The opportunity was taken to showcase the two Pharmasav products available for the market – TAM and PollenAid.
TAM our menopausal product, which was specifically developed for women at the peri- and post-menopause stages in their lives, appealed to international buyers. Many organisations are looking for natural plant products to promote well-being. TAM has proved efficacious and popular with many clients. A UK consumer study demonstrated that 94% of women saw significantly improved wellbeing with 93% enjoying increased energy/reduced fatigue. In this study 86% of women found an improvement in emotional wellbeing and 83% noted a very welcome improvement in sleep.
We were also delighted to meet with Cynthia and Heather May of Graminex who were visiting the exhibition. Graminex supplies PollenAid to Pharmasav for distribution.
PollenAid is concentrated flower pollen, which provides essential nutrients including Essential and Non-Essential Amino Acids, B-Complex Vitamins, Choline, Inositol, Vitamin C, Enzymes, and Flavonoids. It promotes bladder health and generally improves the symptoms of nocturia (excessive urination at night) and incomplete emptying of the bladder. It is a very well tolerated dietary supplement.
Pharmasav is looking to undertake a UK consumer trial in connection with PollenAid later in 2009, and further reports will be made in due course.
Yvette Hastings stated “We have a number of opportunities to expand the international and domestic market for our products. I am greatly encouraged by the interest expressed by some major players.”

Possible Side-Effect of PollenAid Product Identified
March 2009
While the effectiveness of PollenAid in connection with improvement of the male prostate and urinary function is well-documented and medically recognised, Pharmasav has recently become aware of a potential side-effect, which may or may not be considered a problem.
In the United States and elsewhere world, products containing very similar pollen are advertised and actively marketed to thousands of satisfied users to improve their sex lives. It is said on one website to “increase men’s sexual vitality. Over the past several decades, it has been used by millions of men in Europe, Japan and throughout Asia for the improvement of sexual performance and recovery”. The marketing company goes on to say “users typically experience stronger ejaculation with increase in semen volume, seminal fluid and more sperm release.”
Don Hammond, Company Secretary, said “I have used this product over the last two years, and I am well satisfied with its value. I do not consider such a side-effect to be a significant problem”.
Notes to editors
PollenAid contains some 39 vitamins, minerals, and caretenoids, 23 essential amino acids, 98 enzymes, polar and neutral lipids, 20 fatty acids, prostaglandins, phytosterols, and long chain hydrocarbons.
Pharmasav Appoints NutraFX as a UK Distributor
November 2007
Pharmasav is pleased to announce that it has reached agreement with NutraFX to distribute both PollenAid and the menopause product, which was formulated by Pharmasav and its associates.
The menopause product is a reformulation using ingredients which have traditionally been used in Chinese medicine. The natural plant products containing phytoestrogens have been shown to interact with oestrogen receptors in a woman’s body. As a result many women find that they provide symptomatic relief of many of the problems associated with menopause. The product is manufactured in Asia under pharmaceutical manufacturing conditions, and subject to stringent quality control procedures.
The PollenAid product is manufactured and sold widely in the world, and has been shown to be of benefit to many people suffering from kidney or prostate problems. It is an extract of rye grass pollen, and PollenAid does not use solvents in the course of its production. Similar products in the market largely rely on solvents in the extraction process; this was not acceptable to Pharmasav.
Lee Hastings, Chief Executive of NutraFX, stated “I am delighted to be able to make these products available to our customers. The menopause product has brought relief to many women, and this formulation is particularly effective. The PollenAid prostate tablets have been shown in well publicised trials to provide relief for the majority of men who experience benign prostate enlargement as they grow older.”
Don Hammond, Company Secretary, stated “we are delighted to have appointed NutraFX as a distributor, and look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship. They have a successful web-based marketing system, which will provide wide availability of these desirable products.”
PollenAid Distribution Deal Secured
July 2007
On 20 July 2007, Pharmasav was appointed distributor of PollenAid and pollen extract bulk products by Graminex, the respected manufacturer based in Saginaw, USA.
The Graminex product was identified by Pharmasav as being particularly attractive as it is extracted without using solvents, alternative products mostly use aggressive solvent extraction processes.
PollenAid has been shown in many studies to relieve the symptoms of a benignly enlarged prostate, which is common in many older men. It is also suggested that it has many other benefits, but not all of the benefits have been subject to rigourous clinical trials. For example, a search of the literature indicates that the ingredients in PollenAid may have potential to treat prostatitis, prostate cancer, symptoms of menopause and PMS, and to reduce cholesterol. Without further evidence, Pharmasav is not presently making such claims
PollenAid incorporates extracts of concentrated rye grass pollen. A search of the BMJ website, http://www.besttreatments.co.uk/btuk/conditions/8850.html identified the following statement: “Rye grass pollen extracts may help your symptoms, especially if you need to keep getting up in the night to urinate. In studies, 7 out of 10 men taking rye grass pollen said their symptoms improved. This compared with 3 out of 10 men taking a dummy treatment. Also, 6 out of 10 men said they had to get up at night less often after taking rye grass pollen, compared with 3 out of 10 men who took a placebo.”
The company looks forward to announcing its first product distribution agreement to make the product available in the United Kingdom in the near future.
Don Hammond, Company Secretary, said “this is a product with a huge potential market. Most older men suffer from an enlarged prostate, and PollenAid has been shown in many case studies to be effective for many men in reducing symptoms. Provided I take the tablets, my wife is likely to benefit from a better night’s sleep!”
Note to editors
Clinical evidence demonstrates the health benefits of PollenAid for sufferers with either kidney or prostate problems. A simple web search will identify these studies and further details can be found on the www.Graminex.com web site.
Pharmasav focuses on products which have established safety and efficacy records. The company’s core values are to be trustworthy, innovative, flexible, professional and commercially ethical.
Pharmasav Submits Food Standard Agency Health Claims for Menopause Product and PollenAid
October 2007
Pharmasav is pleased to announce that it has submitted within the necessary timescale the health claims required under current legislative changes.
Yvette Hastings, Chief Executive, stated “there are increasing pressures on smaller companies, and the regulatory process is particularly onerous. It is not entirely clear how the approval process will operate, and there appears to be no detailed system to appeal unreasonable decisions. Pharmasav is committed to the highest standards of production and we intend to supply only world-class products to the market.”
Notes to editors
The products in question are as follows:
PollenAid, which comprises Rye Pollen (Secale Cereale L) at a suggested use per day of 720mg of water-soluble extract and 36mg of fat-soluble extract from organic sources. There is considerable evidence that this product promotes bladder health for both male and female sufferers, although many of the studies have concentrated on male sufferers with prostate problems.
Menopause product utilises natural vegetable sourced Phytoestrogens extracted from Vigna radiata at a suggested use of between 150mg & 600mg per day as required. Vigna radiate is a traditional Asian food from which natural Phytoestrogens can be produced. Phytoestrogens are widely used as a natural alternative to pharmaceutical products prescribed by doctors for the relief of menopausal symptoms.
